How to Become a Published Author . . .

Steve Parish Publishing publishes natural history books and Australiana books for children of all ages, as well as Australian-themed books for adults. Steve Parish KIDS publishes a comprehensive range of children’s books and activity books that focus on Australian animals. What to consider before submitting your manuscript:

When looking for an Australian publisher, do some research. Find books similar to yours and see which company publishes those types of books.

Before submitting you manuscript to us, ask yourself, "Is Steve Parish Publishing the right publishing company for my work?"

Please note:
1. We do not publish novels, or extended works of fiction.

2. Most of our product is based on Steve Parish's photography.

3. While some of our books do feature the work of photographers other than Steve Parish, it is usually by invitation and rarely through submission of unsolicited manuscripts. If however you believe your work:

(a) is unique/unparalleled
(b) has a distinctly Australian focus
(c) features never-seen-before images of animals or animal behaviours
(d) exhibits great artistic and/or scientific merit
(e) or is of exceptional technical quality

...we recommend submitting a digital copy by CD or DVD but not email (see below). Alternatively you may direct us to your website to view examples of your work.

How to Submit Your Manuscript:

• Send a copy of your manuscript, along with copies (not the originals) of any images or reference material used, to the address below, accompanied by a stamped, self-addressed envelope for return of the material. Do not send original material. We cannot take responsibility for material lost in the mail.
• Send a complete manuscript along with a synopsis, rather than sample chapters. It should be typed in 12-point font in Times Roman, with double line spacing, and your name in the right-side header. Please number pages in the right-side footer. The cleaner the appearance of your manuscript, the easier it will be for us to assess.
• Please only send your manuscript to one publisher at a time. If you have submitted it elsewhere, please let us know.
• Allow at least twelve weeks for a response from us. If we think your material has potential, several people will read it before we get back to you.
• Because of the volume of manuscripts Steve Parish Publishing receives, we cannot provide critiques on the material you have submitted.
• If your manuscript is accepted for publication, we will contact you and offer a contract. At that time, we will fully explain the editorial and publishing process. Please do not ring us.

How to Become a Published Photographer or Illustrator . . .

Steve Parish Publishing makes extensive use of quality photographs and illustrations. Steve is an award-winning Australian photographer with more than 50 years experience travelling and photographing Australia. We are keen to look at portfolios from exceptional Australian artists and photographers. If you would like to show us samples of your work, the best way is to email us a link to an online portfolio, or send us a disc of your work. Discs will not be returned – we will keep them on file for future reference. We will contact you if we are interested in using any of your work.
