Pat Slater
Pat Slater was an equine photojournalist, a gifted wordsmith and poet, and an inspired photographer who wrote for Steve Parish Publishing for many years, even earning a Whitley lifetime achievement award for her efforts in natural history writing. Editor of equine publications, including The Australian Arabian Horse News, Arabian Studs and Stallions, and Rider, Pat was also awarded an honorary life membership in the Australian Endurance Rider's Assocation for her tireless advocacy of endurance riding. Sadly, Pat lost her battle with cancer some years ago. She is dearly missed by all at Steve Parish Publishing and by her husband, Peter, and son, Raoul, both of whom continue her legacy of natural history writing. The exquisite coffee table book The Love of Horses, published by Steve Parish Publishing in 2007, is a tribute to her skills as a writer, poet, horsewoman and photographer.
