Greg Harm
Greg Harm—as a keen photographer with an eye for the unusual and a self-confessed gadget and computer geek—was plucked from the IT logistics and customer service industry by Steve Parish to work as an information technology and photographic editing specialist in the image library at Steve Parish Publishing. Working closely with his wife Emma (who manages the library), Greg’s role was to modernise and digitise the library, while also developing skills as a wildlife and landscape photographer—the dream job for someone with his skills and passion for photography.
Now, five years after starting with Steve Parish, Greg works as Steve’s photographic assistant, undertaking colour management and being in charge of post-production image quality. Greg also supplies his own images for use in Steve Parish books and products. His role varies greatly, from photographing unseen behaviour in macropods or clambering into caves to search for bats to shooting regional and city photography, managing complex lighting set-ups, and maintaining a cool composure when working with recalcitrant animals or children. Recently, Greg has also been involved in photographic workshops that focus on teaching photographic technique and the use of DSLR cameras, as well working closely with Steve Parish and the publishing team to bring full-colour photography and interactivity to newly devised ebooks and applications. Greg has also judged several other photographic competitions, both for Steve Parish Publishing and for external companies and organisations.
