Greg Czechura
Greg Czechura currently works as a Senior Information Officer in the Publications & Photography Department, Queensland Museum. He is well known for his interest in raptors and has studied the enigmatic Red Goshawk. Greg has published numerous scientific papers and popular articles, including the a regular column in Wildlife Australia magazine. He is a foundation member of: Australasian Raptor Association; Birds Queensland; Birds Australia South Queensland Branch.
Greg has also contributed to the Handbook of Australian, New Zealand and Antarctic Birds and the QM's guidebook Wildlife of Greater Brisbane. He has also authored several QM pocket guides (Raptors of Southern Queensland, Birds of Brisbane, Frogs of South East Queensland and A7V Mephisto).
Other interests include frogs, lizards, native rodents and dragonflies. During surveys of the fauna of the Blackall-Conondale Ranges (1972-1984), he became one of the witnesses to the tragic extinction of the Southern Playpus Frog and Southern Day Frog in the period 1978-1980. Among his various scientific papers are descriptions of new species of striped skink (Ctenotus species) and the Kroombit Tops Tinker Frog Taudactylus pleione. He also maintains an interest in history and is regularly involved with historical re-enactment.
