finger puppetsKids love having someone read children's storybooks to them. Most parents enjoy reading storybooks as well, and delight in seeing their child's reactions to events unfolding within the pages of the story. Many children, however, also can't wait until the day they will be able to read their favourite storybooks themselves.

Teaching children to read

With beautiful photography and engaing text, these Finger Puppet Storybooks provide an innovative, interactive way for parents and children to enjoy reading together. They also introduce many of the fundamental concepts children need in order to master reading and, ultimately, writing and are designed with child literacy in mind.

Each reader includes two stories: an adult-read storybook component and child-read key words. Adults read the left-hand page of the storybook to the child, as if reading a normal storybook. The child then reads the right-hand page to the adult, improving their literacy skills. This page is designed to help the child learn to read. It encourages the child to copy the adult's literacy skills, and to take pride in their own growing reading awareness.

A finger puppet with each book

Each storybook includes a collectible finger puppet pointer featuring an engaging Australian animal. The finger puppet is more than a free toy; it helps children master left-to-right reading progression and assists them in recognising letter sounds (phonemic awareness). For this reason, the finger puppets add an extra dimension to a child's reading enjoyment and are a valuable tool for learning to read. Kids love them.
